Association of Guides and Interpreters of Alentejo

The Association of Guides and Interpreters of Alentejo (AGIA), founded on June 24th, 2003, is the first association of experts on touristic information in Portugal with Alentejo as its major region of focus. AGIA’s headquarters are located in Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city.

All members of the AGIA are official guides with extensive experience in working with visitors and tourists in Alentejo, and who are certified to guide either individual clients or groups in several languages, including English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch.

If you are already in Alentejo, contact the AGIA directly to hire a guide and to make the most of your vacation.

In Évora, the capital of Alentejo, a licensed Alentejo guide gives daily guided tours of this historic city. The circuit begins at the tourist office on Giraldo Square at ten o’clock and will lead you on a discovery tour of the main attractions of the town.

There are also tours available for other cities, such as Elvas, Monsaraz, Troia, Sines and Marvão; these require prior booking. A wide range of thematic guided tours can be also organized.
