BEJA WALKING TOUR | The "Queen of the flat lands" impresses everyone with its rich and diversified heritage Since its foundation, the 2500 year-old-town of Beja has been the richest and most important historic town on Southern Alentejo, and its heritage still today remind us of the presence of many civilizations. With this high cultural and environmental interest, we will walk through the Old Town, where every monument tell us a different story. In the center, the República Square lead us to the two main monuments of Beja. The Church of Our Lady of Prazeres, known as Alentejo's Sistine chapel and the Queen Leonor's Museum, a former convent known for its church filled with golden carved wood, its cloister with Sevilian glazed tiles and for the love story of the nun Mariana Alcoforado. To round off the visit, we will use our energy to climb up to the top of the castle and admire the impressive views over the town and the flat lands that surround Beja and will leave you speechless.
